5 Stars So Glad the Truth is Out
As much as I have been dying to read books on Michael Jackson, I have been very careful in choosing which book I purchase. I am NOT interested in supporting those authors who claim to have the “scoop” on the truth about MJ. I certainly don’t want my mind muddled with false information or personal opinions that have no factual standing, whatsoever, or out-of-context factoids just so these writers can make money at the expense of MJ’s reputation. It’s just not right. The only other book I purchased was the “Michael Jackson Tapes” by Rabbi Schmuley only because it would be the words of Michael Jackson, himself. Even with that book I was not impressed because Schmuley has to put his two-cents worth into everythig Michael had to say and shroud Michael’s words with Schmuley’s own opinions and intentions.

Anyway, about this book, “Michael Jackson Conspiracy”, I am very glad to have read a book that deals with FACTS. I took a chance and purchased it based on other people’s comments, and I say it’s worth reading! Personally, I NEVER believed all the crap that has been said about MJ. Even when the Bashir interview aired, right then I said to my husband, I actually believe Michael and completely agree with his views that there’s nothing wrong with kids sharing a bed if it’s innocent, the way that he described it. In that interview I could truly sense his sincerity and honesty in what he was saying and how he was saying it. This world is so darn hippocritical that we (the media especially) are quick to find fault in others and sensationalize it and take it out of context. I’m sure one could have a field day on the numerous things that we say and do every day that can easily be misconstrued to make us look like criminials when, in fact, we’re not. Anyway, that’s my opinion, and this book is wonderful in that it describes the numerous innacuracies of the accusers’ testimonies, their disagreeable conduct, and so much more, so that for the readers out there who like to base their opinions on facts, this book will certainly lay out for you what the media did NOT and will probably never want you to know!

It disgusts me so very much how the media is like a petri dish that starts as a nasty little bacteria that continues to grow until it’s out of control. They purposely and greedily misconstrue issues, don’t give you the correct circumstances from which it came, nor do they give you ALL the facts! It sickens me that the media was always waiting breathlessly in court for anything that they could leak out to the public that would make Michael Jackson look bad. This books reveals how they couldn’t do that – Thank you Ms. Jones and Mr. Mesereau.

4 Stars Fair Trial and Media Bias
This book is factual and we are spared some of the more brutal details.

Aphrodite Jones by her own admission says she reported in a negatively biased manner in Jackson’s previous dealings with Jordy Chandler, the first person to acuse Michael Jackson of child molestation. Michael Jackson seems to attract negative media and it seemed it would be difficult for him to get a fair trial. Somehow Aphrodite Jones must have felt the ‘guilts’ and seen the injustice of this reporting in the media by herself and other journalists, so decided to do something about it. She actually had to self publish as no-one wanted to publish a pro-Jackson book about this trial. Tom Mesereau, leader of the Defence team has written a forward in this book and said up to date, this is the truest account of what really happened in this trial.

The title of the book Conspiracy is so apt. Conspiracy on which level? How did this trial even get to court? I do not live in the USA and do not work in any legal field, however it is glaringly obvious that the Prosecution’s case was very contrived and based on weak evidence. You do not have to be Einstein to see this. What a waste of taxpayers money (I believe the cost of the trial was massive) and time for all concerned. There was nothing positive in this for anyone. What drove this, one has to ask?

The book can be seen to be pro-Jackson as it shows how injustices can be perpetrated by the law. It also can be seen to be heartening as it is the little people-the jury, who have the final say. Various pictures in the book are good also.

This is well worth the read and brings up a lot of questions about a fair trial and the obtaining of justice.

4 Stars Michael Jackson Conspiracy by Aphrodite Jones
This book was very good. Very fair, but I never believed how the media portraited Michael Jackson in the first place. More people should read this book for the truth.

5 Stars A travesty of the greatest magnitude
I have almost finished this book. It is very well written and researched and entirely taken from the court transcripts, evidence and documents.

It is a TRAVESTY what happened to Michael Jackson. No person should endure what he did. This book explains it all.

The world needs to wake up and realise how they were lied to and manipulated by the media into believing he was a child molester. The man was the furthest thing from this that anyone could possibly be.

The media had BIG money resting on him being found guilty. When he wasn’t they slunk away without any apology or explanation as to what really happened and continued to perpetuate the LIE to the public that he was a pedophile. Those people should hang their head in shame. WAKE UP…..we are being lied to and manipulated ALL the time by the media for their own selfish, greedy purposes and Michael Jackson, a gifted and talented singer, dancer, song writer and Director was a casualty of their agenda.

Michael Jackson endured this public slaughtering with courage, grace, dignity and strength as you would expect.

I recommend everyone who wants to learn about the truth of what really happened to Michael Jackson read this book. It will open your eyes to alot of things.

Perhaps he will be back to seek his revenge one day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5 Stars Absolutely fantastic!
This is the book to read if you want to know what really happened in the trial. Aphrodite Jones uses real court transcripts in this amazing and 100% true book. i will thank Aphrodite Jones so much for writing this book and Tom Mesereau whom i have great respect for. as you read it you will also see how the great Michael Jackson became the victim of a money greedy family and a slandering media but in the end justice was served. May God bless you Michael Jackson, Aphrodite Jones, Thomas Mesereau and all the other people who always believed in MJ’s innocence.

Michael Jackson For The Record

51GBNcr68gL. SL75 Michael Jackson For The Record

Michael Jackson first entered a recording studio in November 1967, just three months after his ninth birthday. Two years later he and his older brothers scored their first hit, ‘I Want You Back’ – and, despite set-backs that would have ended the career of a lesser man, Michael’s legion of fans remain as loyal today as they have ever been. This is the story of the man and his music…

5 Stars GREAT BUY – MUST HAVE – BUT GET NEWEST EDITION
This book is so detailed! Chris Cadman and Craig Halstead did a wonderful job. But this book has been updated since Michael’s death so do a search specifically for this title and be sure to get the most recent edition!!

4 Stars Great reference book
This is a reference book which has recorded all of Michael Jackson’s creative work. It is a compilation of material he has written himself and includes material from various collaborations as well. It lists songs that are still unreleased – there are many of these so no doubt a future CD will be released. As well as the titles of all the songs being included, poems, essays, short films, videos, concerts etc where the songs were performed are also included. There are a few black and white photos but you wouldn’t get the book for the photos. If you’re after a biography, then this is definitley not for you but if you’re after a record of MJ’s work, then get this book. It is an excellent resource and a must for fans who are interested in having a record of MJ’s work without the ‘tinsell’.

4 Stars Michael Jackson for the record
This is the book for you if you wand every detail of musical works Mj was involved in thru his life. I can be dry and dull if you try to read it all in one sitting but it’s packed with trivia! I plan to donate my MJ books to the local library after I’ve read them. It is a way to get out that he was innocent and that his kind of entertainment talent only happens once. I am a new fan; post MJ’s death. To keep his legacy alive we need to spread the word. I’d like to see a book dedicated soley to MJ’s humanitarian deeds. He was such a loving and caring person.

5 Stars awesome music material!!
this book contains really awesomely organized writings on all mj’s songs – even the ones yet unreleased – never felt overwhelmed by all the information in this book because it was so well organized! it is very well done – told me things i never knew about some of his songs – like that the heartbeat on the song smooth criminal is actually mj’s heartbeat and that he wrote the song speechless after a water balloon fight with some kids in germany!

4 Stars For the Record
Michael Jackson: For The Record is a great reference for fans of not only Michael’s solo music, but that of the Jackson 5 and Jacksons as well. It documents music that he wrote, co-wrote, sang, copyrighted (released or unreleased),or was the subject of or inspiration for. The “Rumor Has It” section contains songs that Michael was rumored to have been involved with in some way. For a lot of the songs, the authors provide background information that is quite interesting and I have not found anywhere else. This book goes WAY beyond your normal discography. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who has a love for Michael’s music.

Moonwalk

Moonwalk

51zRBzYVsUL. SL75 Moonwalk

The #1 New York Times bestseller! Michael Jackson’s one and only autobiography – his life, in his words.

With original Foreword by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, a new Introduction by Motown founder Berry Gordy, and an Afterword by Michael Jackson’s editor and publisher, Shaye Areheart.

“I’ve always wanted to be able to tell stories, you know, stories that came from my soul. I’d like to sit by a fire and tell people stories – make them see pictures, make them cry and laugh, take them anywhere emotionally with something as deceptively simple as words. I’d like to tell tales to move their souls and transform them. I’ve always wanted to be able to do that. Imagine how the great writers must feel, knowing they have that power. I sometimes feel I could do it. It’s something I’d like to develop. In a way, songwriting uses the same skills, creates the emotional highs and lows, but the story is a sketch. It’s quicksilver. There are very few books written on the art of storytelling, how to grip listeners, how to get a group of people together and amuse them. No costumes, no makeup, no nothing, just you and your voice, and your powerful ability to take them anywhere, to transform their lives, if only for minutes.” –Michael Jackson, in Moonwalk

From the 1988 edition:

Megastar Michael Jackson’s singularly brilliant career and intensely private lifestyle have become a magnificent obsession for millions of rock fans and celebrity watchers throughout the world. His double-platinum singles rocket to the top of the music charts with a velocity equaled only by the inevitable accompaniment of wild rumors about his eccentric personal life. Now for the first time, Michael Jackson breaks the fiercely guarded barrier of silence that has surrounded him in a remarkably candid and courageous book — Moonwalk.

In this intimate and often moving personal account of Michael Jackson’s public and private life, he recalls a childhood that was both harsh and joyful but always formidable. Michael and his brothers played amateur music shows and seamy Chicago strip joints until Motown’s corporate image makers turned the Jackson 5 into worldwide superstars. Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 have combined sales of over 200 million albums. He talks about the happy prankster days of his youth, traveling with his brothers, and of his sometimes difficult relationships with his family over the years. He speaks candidly about the inspiration behind his music, his mesmerizing dance moves, and the compulsive drive to create that has made him one of the biggest stars in the music business and a legend in his own time. The Guinness Book of World Records lists Thriller as the biggest-selling-album of all time.

In Moonwalk, Michael Jackson shares his personal feelings about some of his most public friends…friends like Diana Ross, Berry Gordy, Quincy Jones, Paul McCartney, Fred Astaire, Marlon Brando, and Katharine Hepburn. He talks openly about the crushing isolation of his fame, of his first love, of his plastic surgery, and of his wholly exceptional career and the often bizarre and unfair rumors that have surrounded it.

Illustrated with rare photographs from Jackson family albums and Michael’s personal photographic archives, as well as a drawing done by Michael exclusively for this book, Moonwalk is a memorable journey to the very heart and soul of a modern musical genius.

5 Stars Michael’s Own Words
A touching and heartbreaking autobiography. Michael Jackson relives his difficult childhood, his feelings for his family, crushes and friends. The hard work it took to get to the top, the sacrifices and the undeniable effects of extreme loneliness are all in this book. You can’t help but feel Michael’s pain and wish you could make it better. His thoughts, inspirations and dreams of the future are all here. some he realized like making film inspired videos. He definitely had the acting bug, especially after making the wiz a dream that wasn’t fully developed because of his music career. A quick read for all Michael Jackson fans interested in his history and mind set during that period of his life.

5 Stars Like A Personal Meeting With MJ
This book is a wonderful look into MJ from his early days until 1988 when the book was released. If ur educated on the man & have seen his few but honest interviews, as well as acknowledging his musical genius & humanitarian achievements, this book gives u a deeper glimpse into his character & takes u back 2 things he’s mentioned before & things u never knew! He tells the funniest stories w/ such charisma that just make u smile & laugh. He also goes in 2 personal issues: love life, appearance ect. It also has sad ironic moments where he talks about the way he’d never want to end up, which is actually the way he died (stress, painkillers, ect.) & how he can only imagine the things he’d accomplish by 88 yrs old. This book isn’t all there ever was to MJ, it was finished by his Bad Tour, but it’s the [only 1] to trust since it’s written in [his own] words. After 1988 was when: he became the undisputed *King of Pop*, Dangerous tour, started Heal the World Foundation, married LMP, charges #1, got sued 4 every ridiculous thing including his own songs, HIStory Tour, married Debbie, had children, Invincible album (his last), charges #2; big trial, recived all these lifetime recognitions, was getting ready for his big comeback. Hence, I’m pretty sure he’d have [S0 MUCHHH] more 2 say in a “Moonwalk Part 2″ but D0N’T buy the garbage “biographies” that are filled w/ the same sensationalism the tabloids have. U’ll just be contributing 2 the lies people have always said about him. Trust the honest few interviews he’s done & G00D intentions he’s always had & [this book] which is like a personal meeting w/ the king himself. Consider us lucky. He had last minuet doubts of releasing the book because of his value for privacy.

5 Stars Great book!
Michael Jackson in my opinion is with no dought, the world’s greatest entertainer. But he is also a great humanitarian and many other great traits.

This book by Michael itself is great! I loved it! It says the truth. And it talks about Michael’s carrier in his own words.

This is a great book. And the fact that is written by Michael makes it even more wonderful!

4 Stars DELIGHTFUL
This is a really easy to read book. Very matter of fact and as it’s written by Michael Jackson himself it is a real joy. It’s a very nice looking book as well and I particularly like the way his signature is on one of the front pages so you feel as though he has actually signed it for the reader. It’s delightful. It is interesting how the reader has the opportunity to ‘hear’ Michael Jackson’s version and intepretation of various events, which is markedly different from the tabloid press and various writers. If you have already read books about Michael Jackson, you will recognise some of the events mentioned in the book. The reader gets an insight into Michael Jackson’s interpretation of the world rather than the tabloids’ interpretation of Michael Jackson’s world.

5 Stars Must read book
Although this was written when he was younger, it was a good read. It gave me insight into the way he saw his life. He gave up so much for his music. We lost an incredible person. May he rest in peace.

Unmasked The Final Years of Michael Jackson

Unmasked The Final Years of Michael Jackson

51VkzSY89GL. SL75 Unmasked The Final Years of Michael Jackson

In late December 2008, Ian Halperin told the world that Michael Jackson had only six months to live. His investigations into Jackson’s failing health made headlines around the globe. Six months later, the King of Pop was dead.

Whatever the final autopsy results reveal, it was greed that killed Michael Jackson. Friends and associates paint a tragic picture of the last years and days of his life as Jackson made desperate attempts to prepare for the planned concert series at London’s 02 Arena in July 2009. These shows would have earned millions for the singer and his entourage, but he could never have completed them, not mentally, and not physically. Michael knew it and his advisors knew it. Anyone who caught even a fleeting glimpse of the frail old man hiding beneath the costumes and cosmetics would have understood that the London tour was madness. Why did it happen this way? After an intense five year investigation, New York Times bestselling author Ian Halperin uncovers the real story of Michael Jackson’s final years, a suspenseful and surprising thriller.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Loved this book!
I was relieved that Michael was vindicated of the molestation charges, and Mr. Halperin lays out a undeniable case for him. It was heartbreaking to read the scene where he was forced to be examined. Michael was humiliated. Such a shame this man’s life was cut short because his handlers cared more about the concerts and the money it could bring in than they did his life.

Mr Halperin does suggest he will not be alive within one day of his death, although not because of his lungs as I was led to believe by the media, but rather due to the excess drug abuse and the stress he placed on his life in general. Michael was not sleeping, he was scared of failure, and he was not taking good care of himself in general. No one seem to care though as long as he could perform, and perform he did. I saw “This is It!” He looked great, sounded great. Of course he was on drugs, and people around him in rehearsal said he was weak. Pretty amazing what drugs can do, and a little bit of film .

He was loved alive, will be loved as much now that he is no longer with us. I grew up loving Michael, one of his biggest fans. I am so relieved again that he has been cleared of these charges,I only wish he had lived to see it. This author started out to hang Michael and ended up exposing his true heart!

3 Stars Unmasked; The Final Years of Michael Jackson
Before MJ’s death I never had much interest in him. I’m pushing 60 years old so I’ve known of him since he hit the scene in 1968. I was curious why his life went so wrong. One day I was in a bookstore to use up a gift card so I bought this book. It seemed to me it would be unbiased. Little did I know it would lead me into becoming a big time fan! The author raised more questions than he answered. Is this a pro MJ book? No. Is it unbiased? Pretty much so. He does not pretend to be an MJ expert but he makes you want to know more about MJ. One thing Halprin was clear about was his opinion that MJ was not a child molester. I can’t believe Halprin thought that MJ might have been gay. I’ve done a lot of research and am convinced MJ was not gay. Untrusting of women, yes; shy around women, yes; too busy for a girlfriend, yes. I say thank you to Halprin for making me curious about MJ. It’s because of Halprin that I now have read over a dozen books about MJ and have spent hours watching performance and interview videos on youtube. I even bought MJ’s Opus. I plan to donate my MJ books to the local library after I’ve read them. It is a way to get out that he was innocent and that his kind of entertainment talent only happens once. I am proud to be a new fan; post MJ’s death. To keep his legacy alive we need to spread the word. I’d like to see a book dedicated solely to MJ’s humanitarian deeds. He was such a loving and caring person.

1 Star Sorely Disappointed
This book was flat, bland, and over-rated. Wish I could have given it no star at all.

4 Stars Insightful for the Discerning Reader
I downloaded this book not as a obsessive, “Michael can do no wrong” fan (although I am a fan), but as a concerned and interested person after Michael’s untimely death, and can honestly say that this book is getting an bad rap, unfairly. The bulk of the book is devoted to an exhaustive investigation into the child abuse allegations, which is supported by extensive, credible information and sources. It also contains, rather unfortunately, a few chapters of rather extensive speculation as to Michael’s sexuality, Lisa Marie Presley’s motivation for marriage, and some general conspiracy theories, which are developed through a serious of “unnamed sources”, “Jackson employees”, and other “insiders” who are less than credible, and can be safely ignored.

It is important to keep in mind that the author originally set out to find the truth behind the pedophilia charges against Michael (which he ultimately discovers are, without question, untrue), and that only after that investigation did he decide to add additional, less credible thoughts and speculation about other details of his life, based on his various conversations throughout the investigation. In the end, the author clearly is sad, frustrated, empathetic, and angry about the people and circumstances surrounding Michael and his life, as you will be through this read.

Yes, the editing is a bit poor, probably due to the rush to get it published shortly after Michael’s death, but this book brings forth so many of the missing pieces and such insight into the destruction of Michael Jackson that it simply cannot be ignored. I highly recommend it, especially in combination with J. Randy Taraborrelli’s excellent work.

1 Star Waste of money
Occasionally I like to pick up a celebrity biography; this book would be better suited in the fiction section. There’s a lot of hype and it closes with a flop pretty much sums it up.
